Kako
This is the story of Kako the giant dog with a heart of gold. Kako was rescued roaming the streets of Puerto Vallarta, around 4 months ago. He was sick and malnourished. It seemed he was abused and forced to fight off other dogs. Most people would fear him and probably even threw rocks at him. Initially he was afraid to be petted. He would flinch when you approached to pet his head. Probably was hit on the head. We really do not know much about him, so we can only imagine his sad life. Kako is a Fila Brazileiro. Considered one of the most aggressive breeds in the world. But he is a sweet loving dog who loves to love. He must be around 10 years old. He will have a great life now. He won't need to go find food or shelter. He is home.
A distichia is an eyelash that arises from an abnormal part of the eyelid. This abnormality, attributed to a genetic mutation, is known to affect dogs and humans. Distichiae usually exit from the duct of the meibomian gland at the eyelid margin. They are usually multiple, and sometimes more than one arises from a duct. They can affect either the upper or lower eyelid and are usually bilateral. The lower eyelids of dogs usually have no eyelashes.
He had to get surgery to correct the problem. It caused him so much irritation and could have ended up blind. Thankfully the surgery was successful and Kako can now see well and is no longer suffering from irritation. He is a happy dog now.
