Wero

This is the story of Wero. I rescued him in June 2019, from a shelter in Guadalajara. I actually went there to pick up 3 other dogs. But when I saw him holding his food bowl in his mouth because it was lunch time, I fell in love with him.

I asked if I could see him inside his enclosure. That was that. He loved on me and I decided he was coming with us too, back to Puerto Vallarta. I was told he was abandoned tied to a tree, outside the shelter and that he was considered aggressive. However he was not one bit aggressive. He was a lover not a fighter. I am sure his scars from fights, were from self defense. He is the Alpha male of our pack. He breaks up fights, he doesn’t start them.

Wero is a pure Yellow Labrador Retriever. The most handsome dog I have ever met. Very large and strong and with penetrating eyes, that reach inside of your soul. I lack the words to express the feeling I get when he looks at me. Just pure unadulterated love. He is incredibly tolerant and friendly towards our other dogs.

The first time I tried walking him on the leash, he pretty much dragged me down. I had to use the Cesar Millan leash technique. With a rope leash, up under his ears. I am amazed at how well that worked. Instant change, I did not need to choke him or anything. I figure dogs are sensitive behind the ears and they respond well to gentle tugging. I was even able to take him to a restaurant, along with my service dog.

I really love this dog so much. I think he was 6 years old when I rescued him from the shelter. So he might be now 10 years old. I hope he is younger, because I don’t want to lose him any time soon. He really is a wonderful dog.
